Transwestern has expanded its natural gas pipeline system by constructing 25 miles of 36-inch diameter pipeline in New Mexico, 259 miles of 36-inch and 42-inch diameter pipeline in Arizona, and acquiring an interest in the East Valley Lateral.
The FERC issued authorization to Transwestern to commence service on February 20, 2009. Transwestern officially commenced service to its customers on March 1, 2009.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Other Regulatory Agencies
Construction of interstate pipeline facilities is regulated under the Natural Gas Act, and the rules and regulations of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). All interstate pipeline construction projects must be approved by the FERC prior to construction. In early 2005, Transwestern met with potential customers to negotiate agreements that would support the building of a new pipeline into the Phoenix, Arizona area. Transwestern filed its construction application with the FERC on September 15, 2006, in Docket No. CP06-459-000 and received its FERC Order authorizing construction of its Phoenix Expansion Project on November 15, 2007.
In addition to the FERC regulations and construction Order issued for its Phoenix Expansion Project, Transwestern has consulted with other Federal, state, tribal, and local regulatory agencies and has received permits when applicable, including, but not limited to, from the following agencies:
